shareI really enjoyed both performances. I liked McConaughey better though. There was a stronger physical characterization.
Bale, I felt, was a little too understated at times. He did give the best performance from that movie. I still haven't figured out why Jennifer Lawrence got so much credit.
I haven't seen either since they came out. I remember they were good turns for both of them.
No. He was very good, but he didn't even deserve to be nominated. Of the performances that were nominated, both Chiwetel and Dicaprio were better than Bale. And then there were a lot of performances that weren't nominated that were better. Tom Hanks, Oscar Isaac, Joaquin Phoenix, Hugh Jackman, and Robert Redford were all more deserving.
And I don't think he was even the best part of the movie. I'd give that to Bradley acooper.
