Pronunciation

How does one correctly pronounce "Agutter"?

reply

Rhymes with "FLAG getter," if said with an English soft "R" at the end. Not like channels for rain/waste water.

reply

Thank you.

No, Nanook, “u” and “e” do not sound the same, though they are both vowels. Her name is A-gutter, properly spoken.

It’s sad that Bozo needed to ask.

reply

What's sad is that you bumped a 6-month old post so you could correct Nanook and make fun of stev, but you're also wrong. In fact, Nanook is closer than you.

Her name is pronounced "a-guh-tur", not a synonym for a drainpipe as you suggest.

I agree that Kane is a dooshbag but, A-gutter and "a-guh-tur" are pronounced the exact same.....

reply

He's missing an accent, those two are not pronounced the same.

reply

Listen Ahmed, if you're in America, they are pronounced the same.

reply

She's British moron. Watch the clip and tell me that's the same thing as "a gutter" (drainpipe)

reply

Alright I just watched the clip. I stand by my original comment that A-gutter and "a-guh-tur" are pronounced the same. In the clip he pronounces it, "AH-gutah." So you were wrong with your "a-guh-tur."

reply

The hyphens represent accents. Your "ah-gutah" is missing a second accent, regardless of the fact that "tur" and "ter" sound the same. What you wrote is someone from Boston saying "a gutter" (drainpipe). That's not how her name is pronounced.

reply

You could be right.

On one hand, I feel like I've finally "made it" here getting a reply from you, but on the other, I'm a little disappointed you were so easy on me. :D

Since I just watched Poltergeist 2 recently for the first time in ages, I have to ask, does the "R" stand for "Reverend?"

reply

Reverend is abbreviated to Rev.
Nanook of the North turned 100 years!

reply

You never know. He could have been feeling lazy that day. And the secret to my youthful appearance is sub-zero temperatures and seal blubber.

The cool thing about my namesake is though he is stone-faced on the iconic cover, in the film he was often grinning.

reply

does the "R" stand for "Reverend?

No. Think again. 2 syllables. Sounds like tree lard.

reply

Ricardo?

reply

😂😂😂😂

reply

Not that far off from Agatha.

reply

Much better example, especially for the way she'd say it herself.

reply

cool!

reply

The correct pronunciation is AG-uh-ter.

(I used to mispronounce it as aw-GUT-er).

reply

Thanks

reply

A-gutter. As "in the gutter"
