Saturday Night Fever
I wonder if he can still disco dance like that.

shareNo way. To dance on that level, you have to be very fit. It's a young man's game as is rock & roll. Testosterone, lots of it, is a must. No flabby old far-ts with man-boobs on viagra who kiss other guys on the mouth need apply. lol
Also, although he was a dancer before SNF because hid idol James Cagney was, he still had to learn how to specifically DISCO dance for SNF. He was not a disco dancer before that. He took Disco dancing lessons from the guy who was on Dance Fever (Danny Terrio?) later for 7 months. 7 months to a spectacular performance, one of the best of all time, is what it was, and people assumed he was Baryshnikov because of it.
If Travolta had croaked after playing Manero, he would have been revered as a legend. "Pulp Fiction" is nothing compared to the impact that Saturday Night Fever had in the 1970s and the 6.8 IMDB score for that film is a disgrace. Only "Taxi Driver" is a better film from that decade. And, in case you think I'm "overrating" a piece of popular "fluff," with no real substance, both Francois Truffaut and Bernardo Bertolucci considered Travolta's performance in SNF one of the best in cinematic history and Truffaut even considered Travolta his favorite actor.

As a movie buff,i have to agree with you there.
SNF was probably THE movie of the 70s,definetly my fav of that era and generally a well.
Agreed,he should have won the Oscar for best male lead instead of Richard Dreyfuss for his role in a crappy movie that nobody remembers.
shareToo bad its legacy was ruined by a very much product of its time that practically neutered all the grit and harshness
shareI'm talking of course, about its very mediocre sequel, Staying Alive
