Awesome Actress
I felt I had to make a topic on this board because there's so much negativity surrounding her for some reason? Uma Thurman is one of my favorite actresses, and I just don't understand how someone can say she's a bad actress. I think a lot of her movies are extremely hit or miss. But that doesn't make her bad in the slightest, maybe just a bit clueless when it comes to picking movies (why would she ever do the movie 'My Super Ex Girlfriend' is beyond me). However, her work in Hysterical Blindness is enough to deem her a phenomenal (and underrated) actress.
One thing I really like about her is the way her voice changes so much from role to role. Maybe its because of her age, but I think Uma is really, really good at using her voice to get into whatever character she's playing. For instance, Hysterical Blindness, her accent is spot on, never falters once, so different from Henry and June, and from Kill BIll, and Bel Ami (the clips I've seen), Les Miserables, even her as Poison Ivy. I love the way she can change the tone of her voice, and get accents down really well which I don't really see a lot of actresses do successfully (or believably). She does it seamlessly.
She's also quite visually striking, and always so interesting to watch on screen. I do notice she tends to be a bit theatric in some roles, but every actress has her quirk, or 'thing' that they bring to many of their films. Anyway, I just don't understand why people are so negative towards her.
