Charlize Theron Hopes Gender-Neutral Awards Ceremonies Will Come “Soon”

reply

Ill choose, science damn me, to see her as a woman.

reply

The problem with this is that men tend to get meatier, Oscar-bait type roles more often. My concern is that if the acting categories were gender neutral it would be a vast of majority of men getting nominated most of the time. Maybe one day in the future, but I don't think we are ready for gender neutral categories now.

reply

That is exactly what would happen.

reply

I might be wrong but I thought she meant as a category in addition to the already established categories.

reply

no, women would get 50% of the nominations and win 50% of the time!

reply

But if they establish a quota like that, they're already defeating the premise.

reply

The premise is an equal outcome.

reply

The premise should be an equal playing field. If more men put in better performances then there are more men candidates. If more women put in better performances then there are more women candidates. No matter what the percentages come out to be.

reply

tell it to the do-gooders/SJWs etc!

reply

She should be careful what she asks for

reply

Fuck off Charlize.

Can't remember the last time a woman this beautiful has annoyed me so much. Even the smug Budweiser commercial when she beats everyone in the bar at darts, pool, arm wrestling, etc. annoys the hell out of me.

Go back to spending time with your 6 year old child who doesn't know what gender it is and stay away for a while.

People are already bailing on awards shows because of the constant political lecturing (though the media will never admit that). Having "genderless" awards shows will just give award nominees another reason to bitch about why they didn't win. "They didn't pick me because I'm a woman." "They just wanted the white man to win." "Wah, blah, boo-hoo, climate change, veggie burgers, evil patriarchy, blah".

reply

She's only beautiful bc of that nosejob though.

reply

What's that?
You're hot, and an actual African American?

Easy to play 'gender neutral' when you look like you do.

reply

Well its only a matter of times until they pull some shit like this.

reply

We already see the bullshit around the gender-neutral director award.

They are whining all the time. Not enough female directors nominated, ...

Or the skin color-neutral awards. Too much white winners or too much white people nominated.

Honestly, who gives a fuck ?

reply

Uh huh, I can see this going south fast. What happens when a man wins the award for best Actor too many years in a row? Will there be calls for gender quotas? Thus contradicting the idea of gender neutrality? And if a woman wins it will there be parades to celebrate Girl Power? Thus also contradicting gender neutrality?

This woman is an idiot.

reply

yea, that's what the world needs, another awards ceremony for the self entitled to back slap each other

these actors live in their own little world

reply

They really do and then Hollyweird wonders why so many of it's films are flopping. Even their awards nights keep dropping in ratings. Awards all for playing pretend!

reply

I won't deny she looks good as a female, but her personality and her mind are a mess. and I agree with you Forsaken, Hollywood is finished.

reply

I used to think she was quite hot. Maybe it shouldn't matter but her mind being a mess really does knock her down a few points for me. I like the idea of Hollywood being done.

reply

No, she isn't. Your thinking is just antiquated and can't comprehend the sophistication of what Charlize is saying.

reply

I hope they don't. Things are fine the way they are now. I agree with most people here that gender-neutral awards would actually cause more gender divisions rather than improve the situation.

reply

That is messed up.

reply

Gender is an antiquated concept that is thankfully being eradicated from society. Charlize knows what's up and is right on her claims.

The future is gender neutral, better get on board with it.
