Never made a good film

"Men in Black" was okay.

reply

Six Degrees of Separation is excellent.

Agreed - he really proved what an actor he was in that movie. Too bad he didn't stick with more films such as that, and went the route of 'MIB' and 'Independence Day'.

reply

Yep -- that role fit him like a glove. He is a charismatic and talented actor, no doubt, but - the occasional role such as Ali aside - he has always gravitated towards box office bait and shied away from anything that stretches him as an actor. A shame for sure.

reply

Not an actor. A movie star.

reply

He's made MANY really good movies, and "Enemy of the State" is a GREAT movie, and one of my favorites!

reply

“The Pursuit of Happyness” was terrific.

reply

Seconded, Smith was excellent in that movie.

reply

I thought Concussion was good, but point taken. He made tons of poor films that made fortunes based on promotion techniques.

reply

Men in Black was pretty damn awesome when it first came out! I loved it back then, but maybe I was just the right age.

reply

I would say that he has not actually "made" a film at all. While he has been the producer on several, he has never directed one.

BRIGHT on Netflix is a very good "Will Smith Movie". Watch it and you'll know what I mean.
