The Crush: An Absurd Romantic Thriller

Alan Shapiro’s “The Crush” suffers from a distinct lack of believability, turning what should have been a tense and horrific tale into a laughable mess. It may contain a wonderfully creepy performance from Alicia Silverstone (in her feature film debut), but it’s not nearly enough to save a film that will leave you shaking your head at its multiple absurdities. Available on Blu-ray starting tomorrow (6/21).

Sorry you feel that way about it. My friends and I enjoyed it as teens way back in 1993 and I still enjoy it today. It's a terrific little thriller that doubles as a guilty pleasure. The 90's were a great time for flicks like The Crush with dangerous women at the center like Cruel Intentions, Wild Things and Basic Instinct. Alicia was a huge teen star back then and her performance is excellent as the Lolita femme fatale. I just received the Blu Ray from Scream Factory today and plan on watching it again ASAP.
