Barry Navidi's production page has also been updated to include Al Pacino as a "Producer" on King Lear (which he hadn't been listed as earlier).

What's up with that? It's gonna be a film version or a stage play? Pacino will produce or also play? Ever gonna get made?

I will actually say it has to be a film. I don't think Pacino has the stamina any more to do this on stage and it's not in his wheelhouse imo in that format anyway. He needs a stylized film to execute this and with Michael Radford writing the script and directing, he at least has a strong, smart director to support him.

On the other hand, this project goes back at least 7 years now 

Deceptive thread. He was just spotted carrying King Lear 

If he does it..........the casting is beyond crucial, I mean that seems like a penetrating look into the obvious to say but the daughters, the Fool have to be precisely complimentary to what he's doing in the role.

Untitled Al Pacino Thriller could be something to keep an eye on too! (on the Film Projects page)

Pacinoyes,

Could the thriller be 'Retribution'? Or is that project dead?

reply

I suppose that's possible. I don't know the status of Retribution specificall but. I did think that was a good idea though in general. I think the original film is suited for a US remake and it's kind of the one film I can think of that would allow Pacino, at this age to actually evoke the younger Pacino in terms of crime subject matter, etc.

If anyone has seen the original movie, it's pretty clear that's a perfect role for him and would allow some impressive people around him to be cast as well. There's a lot of good roles and performances in the original.

Which exactly is the original?????

And where is that "film projects" page? 😀

Retribution is a proposed remake of a Belgian film named "The Memory Of A Killer".

Here's the film projects page for Barry Navidi that had "Untitled Al Pacino Thriller" on it :

The writer of the untitled thriller, Tania Meneguzzi, has it listed on her résumé, working on a "feature screenplay for Barry Navidi" from "Sept 2015 to current." Probably still being wheeled, who knows what's to come of it.

I don't think we've had word on Retribution since Nov '14. The director of the Belgian film did say in Feb '15, "I think Brian De Palma is trying to make it with Al Pacino." But nothing since. De Palma seems busy gearing up "Lights Out" (which he recently said will be a "mixture between Mission Impossible and Wait Unitl Dark" and that it'll film in the summer).

The IMDbPro page for the Modigliani movie, Modi, updated less than a month ago, adding a budget ($10m) but we don't know if Pacino will have a small role or not (Barry Navidi said he might).

I hope the Michael Radford-helmed projects eventually happen, Lear and the Napoleon.

The Irishman too, of course, which should film year this...
