If that was his plan, then I'd say it worked. I always like the Prequels, and I think others will appreciate them more as well. It'll still be the hardcore fans of the OT that bash them, however.
I'm a huge fan of both the prequels and OT. I wasn't disappointed with the prequels because I knew Lucas was experimenting with new technologies like digital filmmaking and CGI effects. I also liked his subplot about how a democracy is turned into a tyranny by a corrupt politician.
The Disney stuff is mainly wretched.
BORN IN 1981,I AM OF COURSE A HUGE STAR WARS FAN SINCE BIRTH PRETTY MUCH.THE PREQUELS ARE GROSS CARTOONISH SPOOF GARBAGE.THEY HAVE A HANDFUL OF NICE BITS THROUGHOUT.BUT ON THE WHOLE THEY ARE NOT GOOD AND NO WEIRD LEVEL OF FAN BACKLASH OVER LESS THAN INSPIRED,YET STILL SOLID DISNEY SW FILMS IS GONNA BREATHE ANY LIFE INTO THOSE BLOATED WEINIES.
shareIMDb ratings prove the sequels are better than the prequels. People who disagree are simply Disney haters.

This was a theory we actually tossed around online when the deal was happening. That Disney would botch the franchise so badly, the prequels would become Citizen Kane. Well here we are. lol
It was said by Lucas back in the day, and in many other places, and even just today or yesterday by JarJar himself, that there's no pleasing Star Wars fans. No matter what you do, you're gonna please some people and piss off everybody else. Lucas knew this when he decided to sell it. The property had become unmanageable for the expectations heaped upon it.
