Lived too long for his own good

I think if he died around mid 90's it would've been perfect for him, no one would've ever known about the tragedy that waited around the corner, everyone today would just remember the genius that was George Lucas and fantazise about how amazing the prequels he had started working on would have been.

reply

Well he has kids I think he is still happy to be alive... I believe he would prefer time with his kids and loved ones over dying and being remembered as a genius...

reply

Yeah, of course your family is the most important, but when it comes to his career i think he must regret sometimes not just killing himself before everything went to hell, it's weird to remember that when i was little George Lucas was basically a god among men.

reply

Makes no sense... I am a billionaire I can do anything I want... But damn why didn't I kill myself 20 years ago...

I do not think hate from some teenage fanboys are enough to make him regret not killing himself...

reply

Money won't save his reputation.

reply

I think his reputation is just fine among his peers... And like I said I do not think he is that worried about his reputation among fanboys...

reply

It's not only fanboys, more like the whole world, i think you could make it a sport finding someone who genuinely thinks the prequels are good. Especially compared to the OT. Not to talk about how he threats the OT pretending the untouched cut doesn't exist. It's pretty much a fact he is a total asshole nowadays who his old self would be ashamed over.

reply

I think most of the world have other things to worry about than George Lucas... It seems like you have something personal against Mr. Lucas?

I also prefer the OT... but I do not go around hating Lucas because he made a couple of bad films...

reply

No, it's nothing personal, i just like to imagine where Star Wars would be and what his legacy would be today if the downfall, starting with the special editions and everything that followed, never happened.

reply

Well maybe you should let it go and start thinking about something else...

reply

Probably XD

reply

:-)

reply

im sure if he died in the 90s it would not of been perfect for him considerring he was mid 50s

reply

Age doesn't really matter, it's what you leave behind that matters.

reply

Age doesnt matter unless you are cheese

reply

True and true.

reply

And wine.

reply

Call me when you’re 80 and tell
me you regret having a long life.

reply

Will do.

reply

For the joy he brought me with the original trilogy, he can live forever for all I care.

reply

A trilogy he tries to bury in the past.

reply

What a bitter and cynical post.

reply

Maybe so.

reply

Most people care more about improving their quality of life, even if they're already millionaires, than about leaving behind a flawless body of work.

Around middle age, most artists lose whatever creative drive they had in their youth.

reply

I wonder how different things would be if one of the people that he first asked to direct TPM had just said yes.

reply

Unless the script had also changed, I doubt it would have turned out much better.

reply

Who knows.
