Kidman officially not in paddingtion 2

Yes I know the first was her biggest box office hit in ages but I'm relieved she's not in the sequel. Hugh Grant is taking over as the chief villain , he plays a washed up actor who has it in for Paddingtion.

Alongside Grant and Gleeson, the lead cast from the 2014 original film, with the exception of Nicole Kidman, are all returning for the sequel. They include Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins as Mr. and Mrs. Brown; Samuel Joslin and Madeleine Harris as the Brown children; Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird; Peter Capaldi as Mr. Curry; Jim Broadbent as Mr. Gruber; Imelda Staunton as Aunt Lucy; and Ben Whishaw as the voice of the marmalade-loving bear.

Well, that was fast. Hope the script was worked out well enough. Love the Grant casting. The plot sounds good too. Overall, can't wait. The first one really grew on me.

Oh I just watched Paddington today for the second time since I saw it first!
I really enjoyed it, Its beautifully written, entertaining & fun.
I have to admit I wanted Kidman to be in the sequel, but then I think she did a great job & the first one was brilliant... I rather see her in something else.
I just hope she does another as good commercial film for wider range audience.

I feel it would come off awfully contrived to have her in the sequel, although a quick cameo would be great! However, her schedule probably does not allow for a quick jaunt to London for it.

different movie, different villain...makes sense.

I know, I think she's been a part of a modern day classic. It's the kind of movie that will only become more endearing over the years.
One is fine.

You know when paddingtion was released, I recall reading in some reviews how Kidman's Millicent was likened to an over the top parody of the then home secretary Theresa May (now prime minister!) and the ex head of UK independent party Nigel Farage ( who is now advising Donald Trump).

Who would have thought how things would have turned out since the original! I'm sure the sequel will have brexit all over it!

I agree. It's one that will be played on movie channels over Christmas in the UK every year, and that's a great film to have on your CV.

First pic of Grant on the sent. He looks fabulous. Can't wait to see the sequel. Hope it's even better.
