Anyone else think he's hugely overrated?

I get why he's so popular, cos he's got attitude. People like watching confident, charismatic people who go against the typical behaviour of someone who goes along with the rest of society.. but he's just not that good of an actor. He has that presence that always makes me well aware I'm just watching a movie. Good actors get lost in the life of the character they're playing and help make the story convincing and hence, more enjoyable. You don't get that with Jackson.

I agree, 1 trick pony... all about the money... he'd be completely out of his depth on an acting stage in theatre, he gets all the parts real actors don't want !

reply

No, I think he gets garbage parts from his friends like Tarrantino. Watch him in Black Snake Moan and tell me he's overrated then.

I do agree that SLJ plays Jules Winnfield in pretty much every movie. But he’s very good at playing Jules and I enjoy seeing him in pretty much anything.

Maybe a little overrated yeah. But he still makes pretty much everything he’s in somewhat enjoyable.

He is underrated as an actor because most movies hire him to just play himself. Watch him in Jackie Brown, that is the completely different character and acting than in Pulp Fiction, same as in Django Unchained or Unbreakable. But his voice and speaking pattern is similar in all movies I will give you that. However his way of acting out the character with his eyes and emotion is different it is like Samuel can feel the characters emotions when he takes the role seriously.
