I know that when you read the topic, you thought: "well, duh". But what I mean is that he's not a great director nor a terrible director, he's just a director.

Your opinion. Not mine. I personally think that he is a great director.

I'd say he has proven he CAN be great with, for example Apollo 13 or Backdraft.
