Best thing in overrated Boyhood

He was the best part of that movie, which was otherwise an amateurishly directed, boring journey through an uninteresting kid's life. Ethan's Iraq war rants and hilariously bad country song for his kids saved it from being a complete waste of time.

The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions.

How does this make the movie live up to its undeserved hype?

reply

I don't know. I just feel that it would be a waste of my time to try and have an intelligent conversation with someone who rates ' Wedding Crashers ' a 10.

reply

I certainly didn't, so yes, don't converse with that person. I thought we were talking about, Hawke aside, the sheer tedium and mundanity of Boyhood.

reply

Then someone else is operating your IMDb page, because it sure says you did.

reply

I forget if I did (the movie did come out ten years ago), but at least Wedding Crashers had vivacious dialogue and energy. Far more entertaining than watching Linklater's community theater-like staging of a very dull, very ordinary boyhood.

I loved Boyhood but I agree about Ethan, he was tremendous.

to me Hawke's performance is the only genuinely emotional thing in Boyhood. I found it somewhat overrated as a film...its concept and production history are interesting but they overshadow the actual film. Without Hawke, I'd be less impressed by Boyhood
