His Worst Performance Ever was in Magic in the Moonlight
I blame the writer and the director.

I take it you've never watched 'FourPlay', then? lol
shareWhy? I think Playmaker, Master of the Moor or in fact nearly half of his former roles were much worse than Allen Portland from Fourplay. Colin meant to play perfect moron and managed this very good.
shareI really enjoyed Magic In The Moonlight and thought Colin was brilliant.

" blame the writer and the director "
Of course both are Woody Allen. This poster "Statue" seems to have one hobby, posting comments to try to discredit Woody Allen and his various movies. I have news for him, no movie fan likes every writer or director. I'd say, "If you don't like Woody Allen and his movies then quit watching them." There are many movie fans who enjoy the light entertainment that Woody Allen films bring. And Firth is just fine in this one.

Make a choice, to take a chance, to make a difference.
Have never seen mamma Mia??? Eegads
shareI can't stand Woody Allen, and the majority of the time, I do choose to not watch his movies. Two exceptions to this rule/choice of mine are Purple Rose of Cairo, and Magic in the Moonlight, and both movies I found to be terrific movies.
I've simply come to understand that I don't like him personally. I don't find him funny. However, I do acknowledge that he is a good writer, and a good director.
EMOTICONS ARE BACK! YAY!
Colin Firth and the lady who played his aunt Eileen Atkins were both great! They carried the movie and had all of the best lines. Magic was not one of Woody's strongest movies!
shareI was gonna say, there is no such thing as a bad performance by Colin Firth!
Only crappy movies that were not good enough for him to grace with his presence!
