THE WINNER OSCAR 2015

RALPH FIENNES is amazing as Monsieur GUSTAVE a great marvellous performance that one time the oscar gives an commedy performance...I SAW Benedict Cumberlatch but performance good but is less than FIENNES ...like Keaton,Remayne and Carrelli(may be best supporting actor)
Gillenhall is good but not performance by nominations and I think that the right nominations are:
STEVE CARELLI FOXCATCHER
KEATON BIRDMAN
CUMBERLATCH IMITATION GAME
REMAYNE
AND FIENNES for GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL (THE RIGHT WINNER for an amazing performance)

His chances are really small but he has a chance so I'd be really excited if he pulls an upset and wins the Oscar. If someone deserves an Oscar is him, he is so overdue since his first nomination for SL

reply

Lets hope!! I just want to add, Ralph always gives outstanding performances. He is on his game in every role. I cannot say that for the other actors who are nominated. They are NOT consistent like Fiennes.

I love his work in TGBH because it's so unexpected. Ralph's characters ususally suffer so much. M. Gutave was just the opposite.

Also, has his hair color changed? In Quiz Show and The English Patient he looked like a ginger.

Was that dye? What is his natural hair color? Dark Blond? Redhead? Light brown?

And are he and Joseph really brothers? They not only don't look like brothers, the don't look like they came from the same gene pool.

Joseph looks Mediterranean and Ralph looks like a Viking.

Fiennes had little to no chance of winning but I do hope he pulls off the nomination. With The Grand Budapest Hotel having wildly outperformed the typical expectation for a Wes Anderson movie both at the box office and with the awards so far, I think he has a reasonable chance. What stands in his way is that Best Actor is, this year, by far the most competitive category - there would seem to be quite a wide pool of contenders with a chance of making the final five, and some of them are going to be disappointed.

He is one of out finest working actors and is long overdue his third Oscar nomination - fingers crossed!

reply

LOL, yup they really are brothers. I've known brothers that look like night and day.

Ralph is dark blond naturally, but pulls off ginger, red and even black. Just like he pulls off any role he acts.

Well, he didn't get nominated. Male comedy performances rarely get noticed at the Oscars(think Henry Fonda in The Lady Eve, Cary Grant in Bringing Up Baby or Hugh Grant in Four Wedding and a Funeral - all unnoticed). It's a shame that he didn't even get nominated - as I think that it's one of his best performances - who knew that he could do comedy?

reply

Ralph Fiennes is astonishing in TGBH. I'm glad I finally forced myself to watch it. I'm shocked he didn't get nominated. Absurd.

If it came down to him and Redmayne, Fiennes wins hands down. If it were Keaton and Fiennes, then an argument could be made. But the end result feels like Fiennes was eliminated in a fluke playoff game and the best team didn't get to compete in the championship.

Carell being in that list of nominees was almost insulting. I felt the same way I would have felt if the 7-9 Carolina Panthers made it to the Superbowl.
