Are there any other actors like Michael Douglas who basically created their own genre?

I was watching The Game, and it occurred to me that Michael Douglas is always very believable in his roles, and that he basically is a singular actor for playing intelligent, cynical middle-aged elites in the midst of some kind of frustration with the world around them. He's basically the epitome of the baby boomer who succeeded financially in life but has some source of anger, either with women or society - The Game (a crazy world around you and the limits of success), Traffic (that success can't protect you from drug addiction in your family), Basic Instinct, Fatal Attraction (that the sexual revolution has consequences), The War of the Roses. Falling Down, Disclosure, Wall Street, A Perfect Murder. And then a couple baby boomer fantasies - the shaggy bohemian professor at an elite school (Wonder Boys) and liberal President who's attacked for his sex life (The American President).

This is why he’s one of my favorite actors.
