I don't think there is the data to indicate that it doesn't slowly affect people's view of the world during a long lifetime of consuming this garbage (my opinion) Lots of studies say that people are subconsciously affected by this, and there has been an increase in offensiveness all through society coincident with these kind of movies and TV.
I agree with you on the other issues, but I think this is part of that.

I'm just saying that a lot of media trends converged, for the worse in my opinion, in my lifetime ... since the 70s. Over that time media panders to kids, tells them they are just as smart as their parents, glorifies violence and crime ... and what so we see in parallel in our society ... much the same. We don't think about what the point of a TV show or movie is anymore ... we watch and accept anything that is projected before it, and we get habituated to it to where it is normal. I realized this when I noticed people quoting movies instead of real history. It would be interesting if movies fortified and bolstered our knowledge of the world instead of trying to program it.
