He doesn't look old at all. Why do people keep saying that only based from his last 2023 movie?

Why do people keep saying he does look old now only due to his last movie?

In his last movie, Killers of the Flower Moon, Leonardo DiCaprio's character is obviously supposed to look much older than him. It's called "playing a character".

Just look at the press conference of Killers of the Flower Moon in Cannes, you can see that Leonardo DiCaprio looks way better and younger than his movie character:

I think some people are so delusional they expect everyone's face to look the same over nearly three more decades.

I hate stupid people lol

reply

While that's true the thing is he does look really good for 48 years old.

Nowadays people look way younger than some decades ago.

reply

I see nothing wrong with the way he looks. He looks appropriately his age.

Got people on these boards sharing photos from literally over a quarter century ago going "what happend?"

It's just annoying as fuck, that's how people think.

reply

That's true as well.

Leo does look pretty good.

reply

If by old these people mean "no longer looks like a child" then yes I guess he's "old". I noticed that around the time of 'Inception' DiCaprio aged into a man, he's 49 next month but I don't think he looks much older than your average 40-year-old. I'll say it, he looks great.

reply

Exactly. And nowadays people tend to look way younger than years ago.

reply

I admire that Leo rarely makes it a priority to play up his looks. More often, he downplays his looks and plays grubby, rough- looking characters, worn down by life and environment.

reply

Totally agree, he's past all that stupid superficial stuff.

He doesn't need any "boyish looks" anymore. It's more about his performances and in that way he remains completely in demand and employable by directors.

reply

That's so much true. And he's a great actor.

reply

The best at this moment

reply

One of the bests.

reply

He's big enough to be a lead character.
And he is a great and versatile actor.
In his bracket (for example Dustin Hoffman is also very good, but he has no draw as a lead character. Same for Gary Oldman. Tom Cruise is a good lead, but not a great actor. Etc) he is the best actor at this moment.

reply

I think Tom Cruise is a very good actor. The thing is nowdays he has been doing more action movie.

And those action movies are amazing.

reply

He'll never look old. No matter how much facial hair he grows, and how many wrinkles he has, he'll always just seem like a teenager. His main liability as an actor is his implausibility as grownup characters.

reply

But he has turned into an amazing actor.

reply

He does look much younger than 48. But he is not playing an older character;in the movie he is playing a real person who is supposed to be 25 years old during the time the story is set.

reply

In the movie his character is clearly older than that. Unless if his character suffers from a very strange disease to make him look way older.

reply

I read the non-fiction book it is based on and I hope they don’t go with his actual age because he cannot cannot pass 25 and only has a minor but photovoltaic role in the book.Robert De Niro’s character is also supposed to be 51 in the book. Also Jesse Plemmons FBI agent is supposed to be one of the main characters yet he only appears in the last hour of the movie. I just find it strange that Scorsese claims he wants to do the true story justice but is changing around the characters and focus on the story.

reply

So it seems they really changed the age of the characters in the movie version.
