Ruined his legacy by too many direct to vod shite
oh well
shareIt does make you wonder, why these rich celebs worth literally hundreds of millions of dollars are willing to go flop around in sludge just to make a little more. Greed never dies.
Then again, 50+ years from now people will only really be looking at his great performances - everything else will fall to the wayside.
Some people just like acting or consider it work so why not work? Some only consider a legacy to uphold. Look at how many movies and shows Sam L. Jackson has been in.

shareThere's an argument to be made there, that it's just "work" and they enjoy it. The other side is that a great actor/artist might choose their roles wisely, like a Daniel Day Lewis - and De Niro was on the same level of ability at one point.
I think it'd make sense to become more choosy over time, considering he doesn't need the paycheck. Only pick roles which resonate in some way... instead of grabbing whatever brings in some cash.
But looking back, there were always plenty of mediocre movies sprinkled in De Niro's filmography, so who knows.
We don't know why, people just assume it's greed. Some do it because they enjoy acting while so e genuinely need the money to survive, or both.
shareRobert De Niro gave up on the craft in 2000 and from there only did films for money to finance his hotel projects. He was great. Not so much now.
