why didnt "true lies" give her career a big boost?

that was a massive hit film both commercially and critically. she co-starred with one of the biggest leading men at the time and won a golden globe for best actress....yet didnt have a follow up film until more than 2 years later with "house arrest"....a crappy b-list family friendly comedy (i actually kind of like house arrest if im being honest but it's not something an a-lister does after coming off a 500 million dollar picture).

i never really understood this. she didnt really have a major headlining hit film until halloween h20 4 yrs later....and even that was only a mid level hit.

jamie has always been my favorite actress, mostly because i love horror and i love her personality. ive always wondered why her career was so hit and miss...mostly miss.

Yeah, some of her choices were strange after True Lies.

She never needed to try to be in the spotlight her kids were a big deal to her and fate brought freaky Friday her way and that brought another massive $100 million dollar golden glove nominated hit duhhhhh

Globe***

freaky friday was 10 yrs after true lies so im not sure what that has to do with anything

Right but I remember thinking the same thing u r saying back then but through interviews I would see she didn't wanna work much and wrote children's books n stuff so essentially her post-true lies legacy is h20,friday and Christmas w the kranks (critically panned but financial success and somehow a Christmas classic to many)

She's always had a weird career anyway. From a scream queen to leading boobie lady/sex symbol, and then she even did a rom-com TV series for a couple of years. She's always been that odd sort of sex symbol actress without the movie-star looks whose characters have that hard outer shell. As far as True Lies, she [i]was[i] in her mid-thirties, which is nearly the death knell for an actress approaching 40 where the roles start to dry up.

"Jesus, does anyone?"

reply

Agreed.

She was still a middle aged woman, always harder to get parts.
