if he can't be an Australian citizen will he suffer?

Lot of stuff in the media at the moment about how despite living in Australia since he was 4 they won't let him become a citizen.

He was born in New Zealand.

I understand that there are loads of KIWIS in Australia and I doubt they get a bad time from the Australian government, and somebody rich and famous is not going to get any hassle is he?

If his grandfather was born in Wrexham he could probably get a British passport?

reply

It's not that they won't let him, he missed a deadline to file paperwork to establish Australian citizenship (I believe that he was filming Gladiator at the time).

A lot of Kiwis who emigrated to Australia, particularly those displaced by the Christchurch earthquake, have left Australia...they were rather harshly treated and discriminated against by the Australian people, employers and government. I am hard-pressed to figure out why, due to their seemingly natural affinity.

Mr Crowe won't truly suffer at all....the worst thing for him, I suppose, is that he can't vote in Australian elections. He isn't stateless. He is a New Zealand citizen and I presume he carries their passport. He has no need of a British passport.

He might not need a British passport but it makes me laugh how many Australians get a British (or other EU )passport when coming to europe.

He was born in N.Z., then the family moved to Australia for several years, and then they went back to N.Zea. Time to be on his own and he moves to Australia. I dont think hes going to cry about the citizen thing. I say this because of something he said about it.

Yeah I dont get it either. NZ and Australia. I thought they got along fine and dandy.
