did he deserve all the big name movie big parts he got in the '80s and '90s?
to me, he did, but what do other people on here think?
shareto me, he did, but what do other people on here think?
shareYes
shareThe only role I didn't think he was right for was Flatliners. I thought he was too old to play against those other actors. He might even have been the same age but they were all up-and-comers and he had been around for over a decade by then. Playing a med student seemed a stretch to me.
sharewhat are you talking about? he was great in flatliners and perfect for his role.
shareI just explained in heavy detail why I thought he was off for the role.
shareand you were wrong about all that you explained. you know they can make a 35 year old look like a 25 year old in a movie right? makeup, hair stylists, and camera angles can work wonders. also, his being around for a decade before that movie has nothing to do with his role, that just has to do with his career as an actor.
shareAt that time he was already playing older - She's Having a Baby, Tremors, Criminal Law, etc. Suddenly he's back with people in their early 20's pretending to be the same age. Again, to me he had established himself as a grown-up actor in older roles. I just had a problem with it.
I can't believe I'm arguing about a minor movie on a Kevin Bacon board. If it makes you feel better I'll go watch it again!
his past roles have nothing to do with can he play 25 years old. matthew lillard was playing teenagers in high school characters when he was 31. it's not like as an actor once you play 30 you can't play 25 after. that's really stupid.
that's just you having this problem about him going back to playing a younger character, that doesn't make sense. acting is about creating an illusion, a fantasy world that makes sense. it's not about this actor is 30 so they can't play 25. again, makeup, hair stylists, camera angles, lighting, and distance shots can make people look 10 years younger that their age.
heck look at leonardo di caprio, he plays a guy in the wolf of wall street who is about 25 in the beginning even though, leo was about 40 then and somehow with the wonders of makeup i guess they made him look about 25 and then later on he looked older and kind of weathered.
", but what do other people on here think?"
HE TOLD YOU.π
Yes I think so he always did a pretty good job.
shareYes.
I don't know how he got most of his roles, if he auditioned it was made for him, or someone backed out, but he is a really good actor and has starred in some really great films.
I don't know if you want to count 2000's Hollow Man, but that is a great film, and he was great in it, even though he wasn't in it a lot. When he plays bad, he plays bad so good.
Also, I've read that he hates this film, but I have a friend who even though he understands the characters aren't really developed, the story line is a little WTF, Loves QuickSilver.
Absolutely. There are so many roles he could play and most of the time very compelling.
