I agree. I only knew her from the drama with Brad and Angelina (huge fan of Angelina Jolie's work), that is when I heard about Friends.
The movies I have seen her in she was not memorable.
"Friends" is definitely the first thing most people associate with her. I never watched it, though...she's kind of one of those people who's "famous for being famous" as well. I liked her in "Bruce Almighty."
I actually don't think of her and Brad Pitt much anymore. She hasn't seemed to have had much luck with love, unfortunately.
There was a thread on the General Discussion board regarding "celebrity to have a beer with" and I said her as my female choice. She's about 3 months older than I am and I think we'd really have an interesting conversation. But I agree that most people still associate her with "Friends."
I think she made some bad choices career wise. 1st one - she was the reason Friends ended a bit earlier than planned. Thats why season 10 has 18 episodes instead of 22-24 (the usual number). Also, they had the renewal for season 11 if they wanted it. But she said she wouldnt be in it so it was all or nothing. In a way its better bc the show by S10 it was a bit stale.
2nd - she got roles back in 2000s: The good girl, Bruce Almighty, Along came Polly, Derailed... Those seemed like big budget movies. Yet none of them were good enough to be memorable. So I have to wonder if she chose them based on the money she was getting or the story.
The unfortunate problem?
She actually has RANGE and can play a role like you wouldnt believe. Look at her in The morning show. She did a good role in The good girl and in Management too. Also Cake. But bad stories everywhere. Wanderlust? Sh*t. The one where she's a stripper? Garbage. The one with Gerard... booring).
Her career would be much more if she had movies with good writing.
I don't see that, it is still Rachel, only slightly different.
I do not think she really challenged herself to any kind of completely different roles, like a assassin or something. I am sure if she cut pay a lot of projects would be willing to have her. But no, she was milking the same type of roles, I bet because of the money.
I don't think she is a serious actress.
As OP said, those are really the only 2 things I remember about her.

I just checked out the "Derailed", honey trap is really not that big a change from rom-com.
The morning show I tried before, it was just so dull and slow, I could not even get past the first 10 minutes. Also she was already so old in the show, that is not changing of acting style, that was her being so old they couldn't cast her in rom-com anymore.
I think all of them did the Friends reunion show and loved it because by now they have all realized that is the show they will be remembered for.
This thread is about Jennifer's dramatic acting, but to me she has exquisite comic timing. She is primarily a comedienne. I get why she wanted to do dramatic roles and I did like some of them but when she's not doing comedy it's a waste of her gift.
Despite her insane vaxx rhetoric, where she dumped friends for not getting vaxxed - I suspect she might be a tad more normal than Jolie. So Pitt kinda screwed up - lol
