TYB Sundance Film Festival Dates: Oscar Consideration?

My question is how will this qualify for Oscar consideration?

2017 Sundance Film Festival will start on
Thursday, January 19
and will end on
Sunday, January 29

The Yellow Birds

Director: Alexandre Moors

Adapted from a novel by Kevin Powers, this is a searing antiwar drama about “kids who go to war too young and get destroyed,” Mr. Cooper said. The cast is filled with fast-rising young stars, including Tye Sheridan (“Mud,” “X-Men: Apocalypse”) and Alden Ehrenreich, who was recently cast as the young Han Solo in a coming “Star Wars” movie. Also appearing in a supporting role is Jennifer Aniston, reuniting with Mark Canton, a producer of “Cake,” which brought her awards attention in 2014.

*Rolling Eyes*. Why do you ALWAYS try to be the centre of attention? There is a perfectly good thread opened for Sundance but here you are trying to outdo someone else. You deserve whatever *beep* you get from the Jolie fans.

I hope it will get great reviews to maybe have a future later in 2017 and Jennifer could get a nod.

I have a serious question about the dates of The Yellow Birds and how it will vie for Oscar consideration.When is the "The Yellow Birds" going into general release breakaleg? Sundance ... nor any other festival will get Jen to Oscar.

I always thought a film has to have at least a short run in 2016 in order to qualify for 2017 oscars, so I'm not sure it will unfortunately. I could be wrong though.

That is exactly what my post is about! Only if TYB is released for one week in December will it qualify for Oscar consideration. But there has been no word about that. And the Sundance Film Festival doesn't open until the middle of January.
