Classic British sitcom “Fawlty Towers” is being revived at Castle Rock Entertainment with original series writer and star John Cleese and his daughter Camilla Cleese set to write and star.

The show was ranked first by the British Film Institute in their 100 Greatest British Television Programs list in 2000, and in 2019, Radio Times named it the greatest ever British TV sitcom based on a panel of comedy experts.

The new series will explore how the over-the-top, cynical and misanthropic Basil Fawlty navigates the modern world and will explore the relationship between Basil and a daughter he has just discovered he had, as the two tempt fate and team up to run a boutique hotel.

John Cleese said: “What I like about Matt is that, unlike many producers, he really ‘gets’ the creative process. When we first met, he offered an excellent first idea, and then Matt, my daughter Camilla, and I had one of the best creative sessions I can remember. By dessert we had an overall concept so good that, a few days later, it won the approval of Rob and Michele Reiner. Camilla and I look forward enormously to expanding it into a series.”

Rob Reiner added: “John Cleese is a comedy legend. Just the idea of working with him makes me laugh.”

George said: “Meeting John and Camilla was one of the great thrills of my life. I’m obsessed with ‘Fawlty Towers’ and the legendary characters he created. I’ve watched the first two seasons so many times I have lost count. I dreamed of one day being involved in a continuation of the story. Now it’s come true.”

"I’ve watched the first two seasons so many times I have lost count."

I didn't know there were more than two seasons...

reply

Dude, you're responding to a post talking about a new season..

reply

That doesn't even exist yet...in any shape or form.

I mean, wow...

reply

And that is mistake two.

reply

There's not even a pilot or a script. But okay, you go and watch that third season right now. Good luck!🍆

reply

I strongly suggest you update your comprehension of written English so you can at least understand where you fail. Best of luck.

reply

I strongly suggest you check yourself into a mental health facility. I do hope you enjoyed that third season that only exists in your head.

reply

So you admit you do not comprehend OP's post. No need, it was abundantly clear before.

reply

Dear little troll, the OP's post is nothing but a copy-and-paste from the linked article. And it's abundantly clear you didn't understand a word of it. Now you and your socks have fun watching the 4th season.🙃

reply

What 4th season?
You wrote that you didn't know there were more than two seasons...

It's not going well for you.

reply

Lol sweetie, it's really funny how you try to lecture me on comprehension.

No, there are only 2 seasons, so what are you and George going on about???

reply

He's not a troll. He's someone who UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH.

QUOTE: "I’ve watched the first two seasons so many times I have lost count. I dreamed of one day being involved in a continuation of the story. Now it’s come true."

MEANING: "We are currently working on a third season of Fawlty Towers. I watched the first two seasons prior to the THIRD one we are producing now."

I always find it hilarious how foreign nationals think that this is how they're going to learn English and American/British culture from native speakers--by aggressively arguing with them about how their own language is understood and spoken, or by aggressively arguing about the origins of IPs native to their country.

The point is that someone is correcting you on the English language. Learn what he is teaching you, so you can become a better English speaker and thinker.

reply

D-feet, you are still wrong, no matter how often you try to post the same nonsense.

It has nothing to do with English, it's the same in every language. The plans could be called off tomorrow and there would be nothing left of even this guy's intention to make a third season.

Now drop the dumb, xenophobic persona and move on.

reply

Most of the people posting at MC and other movie boards aren't native English speakers or from the country that most of these English-speaking TV shows and movies hail from. Most of them are suspect; there is something suspicious about a person who has never set foot in the United States or the UK spending all of their free time not only arguing with Americans or Brits about their own culture, but injecting polemics into everything.

reply

They didn't say that. Grade 6 drop out?

reply

"They" said FIRST two seasons. The guy is getting ahead of himself.

You're asking me if you are a grade 6 drop out? Of course you are, D-feet.

reply

English is your second language?

reply

I see you and your socks share only one brain cell. My condolences.🍆

reply

It probably is his second language. Almost none of the regulars stalking every English-speaking IP are not from the countries that the IPs originated from.

reply

I didn't know there were more than two seasons...

There's not.... yet. I guess it means the upcoming thing will be considered season 3 since it's not a remake but a revival of the original series.

reply

I think the guy is a little too presumptious. He should've just said "the show". It's not like there's more to watch than those two seasons.

I don't for this new trend in bringing back beloved characters as deadbeat dads who were apparently so reckless and promiscuous in their earlier days, they barely realised they had a kid (see also Egon Spengler in Ghostbusters). These were awesome characters and now they're just jerks who can't keep track of how many women they slept with/how many kids they had. They're turning them into Boris Johnson.

reply

So you saw the pilot even before it was written?

reply

"Basil Fawlty navigates the modern world and will explore the relationship between Basil and a daughter he has just discovered he had"

How did Basil not know he had a daughter? It's not the type of 'thing' one misplaces. "Oh, look, I've discovered a daughter behind the back of the sofa. Who knew?"

Decent men keep track of such things. Decent men wear contraception, unless they're consciously planning to have kids with their partner.

Then again, maybe Basil donated to a sperm clinic, so, I suppose you're right...I'll keep quiet until the pilot is written.

reply

You're right, HarveyMan, DON'T keep quiet. Satan2016 is just being OBTUSE, as always.

reply

Another "boomers out of touch with the young generation" comedy. Great.

reply

Neither Cleese is a "boomer".

reply

What is he, Gen x? Greatest generation? Tf...

reply

Another foreign national who has no idea what a Baby Boomer is. Great.

A Baby Boomer is an AMERICAN that was born in the years immediately after WW2, the very first wave in 1946. Cleese could never be a Baby Boomer. Not only was he born before 1946, he is a BRIT. Brits are not Baby Boomers, could never be Boomers.

reply

No one cares, loser.

reply

This will be a disaster. Imagine addle-brained Major Gowan not as the butt of jokes but rather the top banana. That's Cleese today.
