For me it's a tie between Deanie Loomis and Gypsy Rose Lee. I think she was absolutely fantastic in both parts and each one required such a different type of performance.

But you know, in thinking about it, she was also amazing as Alva Starr in This Property is Condemned.

I loved both Deanie and Alva probably the most...2 very different characters but she captured them both with her vulnerability.

I've only seen a few, but she was a really fine actress.

I liked her best in Gypsy and Splendor in the Grass.

Also Deanie in Splendor in the Grass, one of my favorite films which I rewatched recently. And just prior to that, Rebel Without A Cause.
