TCM tribute on Greg's centenary, April 5, 2016
Tuesday, April 5, 2016 is the centenary of Gregory Peck's birth -- can you believe it?!
In his honor, TCM is devoting 24 hours of films (plus a documentary) to this terrific actor and screen giant. The schedule (all times Eastern):
6:00 AM: Days of Glory (1944)
7:30 AM: Man With a Million (1954) (a.k.a. The Million Pound Note)
9:15 AM: The Macomber Affair (1947)
11:00 AM: Designing Woman (1957)
1:15 PM: The Valley of Decision (1945)
3:30 PM: The Yearling (1946)
5:45 PM: On the Beach (1959)
8:00 PM: Cape Fear (1962)
10:00 PM: To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
12:15 AM: A Conversation With Gregory Peck (1997 documentary interview)
2:00 AM: The Guns of Navarone (1961)
4:45 AM: Captain Horatio Hornblower (1951)
Not a bad assortment. The usual MGM films TCM often shows, plus the inevitable Mockingbird, but it also has his debut film, a rare comedy, a seldom-seen drama (Macomber) and a very infrequent TCM showing of On the Beach. Personally, I'm just sorry they scheduled two of my favorite Peck films for last (Navarone and Hornblower)!
Happy 100th birthday, Greg, wherever you are!
