Not Hated; Victim of PR Smear Campaign from Either Nolan or the Studios

I'm old enough to have been around when Kubrick was alive and still working.

No director is universally beloved. Not even someone like Hitchcock or Welles. That went for Kubrick. But Kubrick was never "hated" or had "haters." He was one of the most respected directors alive before he died and while not everyone liked all of his movies he had at least one movie everyone liked.

This whole "Kubrick was hated; has haters" thing is part of a suspicious downvoting and smear campaign that started at the IMDB, and curiously, right after Christopher Nolan became popular and before he released Interstellar. It was always important for his "haters to call him overrated while praising Nolan, which makes no sense because they were two different directors from two different eras making movies about very different things.

You can see on this forum alone these bizarre thread mentioning Nolan. Because the phony "haters" always have to mention Nolan when bashing Kubrick I know that this started as a PR campaign from Nolan's camp or the studios to boost Interstellar, that has now taken a life of its own, since people are such sheep and will believe and repeat anything they read online.

If I was going to pit Kubrick's career against another still-living director David Lynch would be a much logical choice.
