Kubrick exhibition in London
I was lucky enough recently to visit the Stanley Kubrick exhibition at the Design Museum in London. It was quite wonderful - a large range of props, costumes and artefacts from his films and from the making of them, from HAL 9000's eye to the giant ceramic 'dildo' from A Clockwork Orange. Each of his major movies has its own section with screenings of extracts, annotated scripts and plenty of memorabilia. One enters the exhibit on the carpet from the shining, walking into a set of screens playing extracts from a variety of Kubrick's films.
As well as all kinds of material relating to his released films there were some excellent displays relating to Kubrick's planned Napoleon movie, and his version of A.I. - a tantalising glimpse at what might have been.
A fascinating exhibition - highly recommended to anyone able to be in London over the next few months.
