I don't think there is anyone anywhere who can definitively confirm it, not even Christiane, Kubrick's widow still residing at the family residence at Childwickbury north of London.
What's interesting about the article is that this seemingly peripheral point, this subordinate "fact" in the context of the article, suddenly "jumped out", suddenly manifested as a "WTF!!??" moment, suddenly raised questions unrelated to the subject-matter of the article.
Well, I've been researching Kubrick and his films for a number of decades, including such details as his marital history and legal and financial arrangements, but in actual fact there is no official record anywhere of Stanley and Christiane every marrying, either in a civil ceremony or a religious one.
Kubrick's divorce from Ruth Sobotka was finalized in 1961, at which time Kubrick had been living with Christiane for four years in LA, and had all his children with her there, including Anya in 1959 (she plays the part of the baby in Spartacus) and Vivian in 1960). When the divorce from Ruth was finalized, Kubrick and his family moved back to Manhattan, into an apartment on Central Park West. But there is no actual record of Christiane and Stanley actually marrying, which, of course, is not a definitive claim, just that all the lack of evidence suggests that this is in fact the case.
