RIP Kirk. You'll survive in eternity by your contributions to cinema. My fav is Paths of Glory.

I do think Paths of Glory is his greatest film. His best performance IMO is Ace in the Hole.

There was a bit of truth behind this movie, on a smaller scale. The French army was a mess by 1917.

The 1917 French Army mutinies took place amongst French Army troops on the Western Front in Northern France during World War I. They started just after the unsuccessful and costly Second Battle of the Aisne, the main action in the Nivelle Offensive in April 1917.

554 mutineers were sentenced to death but only 26 were actually executed.
