The night Davis was given the AFI award

In 1977 Bette Davis was the first woman to receive the AFI award. Among the stars who attended was Celeste Holm. I've never understood, if Holm, who had expressed publicly, her dislike of working with Davis on "All About Eve"(the only complainer in that stellar cast)why did she attend that night? I personally loved Holm in "Eve" and felt her soft, sweet and positive performance, perfectly complimented Davis's hard, tough, cynical Margo. I've read that Davis was in awe of how Holm could laugh on cue with realism in the restaurant scene. I never heard or read anything of Davis disliking Holm.

I agree! Hepburn was way to confidant to be intimidated by the talent of her contemporaries.
And Stanwyck was the ultimate tough broad in movies.I mean that in the best sense of the word.
