I start watching any movie, it starts buffering what to do:(

Hi,

I'm not very tech-savvy, so please bear with me. I've had some streaming experience over the past couple of years, but I've never purchased a movie before. I want to buy a film, but the internet connection here isn't great, so when I start watching any movie, it starts buffering. I don't mind the occasional pause for a TV show, but I'd prefer to watch a movie without interruptions.

Where are you located that you don't have WI-FI and have Dial up Modem it sounds like from the 90's??

reply

I dont know why the streaming services dont let you build a massive buffer before starting , ideally the whole movie

There's usually two bars running at the same time when playing a movie. The one that runs "ahead"/ or fastest is the caching bar, that helps to play the film smoothly for the most part. The other bar is the one that runs when playing the movie.

Wait until the caching bar reaches the end, then play your movie. It can take quite a while to reach the end, so keep yourself busy with other stuff while that happens.

try POWER CYCLING your home network gear: Modem, Switch, router, hub, even the TV

Turn it off, unplug the power cord AND the network cord from the modem, wait 5 solid minutes and plug in again.

Alos, if you have a NETWORK CORD you can hook from TV to modem, that could help a tiny bit.

MAYBE buy a newer or better TV, or even a newer ROKU device that could alter how things get buffered down.
at the end of the day, if your internet speed is too low for the service specifications, there is nothing you can do.
