Is that the "I'm a freak" band?

reply

No, that would be silverchair.

Radiohead is better known for tracks like

Creep
High and dry
Karma police
Paranoid android
Nude

reply

Okay, I was thinking of Radiohead's "Creep" but I conflated freak with creep.

But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here

Iconic! I have all their albums and all Thom Yorke’s solo stuff.

Probably one of the last great bands to exist.

Everything up to Amnesiac is incredible. The cracks started to show then but didn't completely fracture until after In Rainbows and Thom Yorke, who is a fantastic singer but a fucking terrible maker of electronic music, started moonlighting as a DJ and a jazz inspired scat man, that he also sucks at.

Since then, they've laid off those two elements a bit and have gone more to their roots, though the music seems like an uninspired attempt at recreating their past with a lot of droney wailing.

Sum: Anything up to Amnesiac is primo, most after that is okay to bad.

reply

Two thumbs up from this guy.

reply

Probably my favorite.

Game changer band for me!

I got in with Hail to the thief and later was amazed with OK computer and the bends.

Discovering Kid A and Amnesiac was a true shock! They sounded like nothing I've ever experienced before and, believe it or not felt a tingle in the tip of my tongue whenever "Everything in it's right place" starts.

To this day Kid A and Amnesiac remain two of my all time favorite albums and Everything in it's right place one of the best album openers I can think of.

Also, until in rainbows, every album cover (with exception to Pablo Honey) seems to describe the feeling of the album with absolute perfection.

Good little band, but hideously overrated. Critics paint them as innovators, when they were just copying other people. Their 90s sound was an amalgam of U2, REM and Nirvana. After that they went "experimental" and retreaded ground covered 20 years earlier by the likes of Japan, OMD and Ultravox.

That said, I do break out 'The Bends' and 'OK Computer' probably once a year. Aside from those records, it's only the occasional song that's of interest.

reply

Their sound wasnt anywhere near as good as those influences you mentioned.

I guess if I took all my favorite meals and put them in blender it wouldnt come out that nice .
In fact it would come out kind of "radiohead" - dreary bland grey mush
