What did you bungholes watch this week? (11/17-11/23)
Let’s talk movies shall we?
My week:
Pulse (2001 Plex): My first comment will not be about the movie but as a first timer on Plex: Good grief there was A LOT of adds!!! Now about the Pulse, I really liked the settings, the actors, the look and feel of the film. There are some sublime shots and I’m not even talking about the scary stuff, just random little moments that were very beautiful. Japanese are quite good looking people too so that did help. The story was interesting and brought a powerful message early in internet’s lifetime and still applies today, x10. I did struggle at certain points as I was confused and puzzled at what was going on. Not because I watched with subtitles but because sometimes the editing seemed to jump from one thing to another without much sense, continuity or context. I think a few things were left for interpretation. Another minor detail that bothered me was how the characters react to certain situations near the beginning. (Mostly slowly walking, sacred, for nothing.) There are some truly creepy parts though, I’ll admit that, and major points for proving you can be scary without relying on jump scares. My rating: 7.5/10
The temperature that’s stuck between Fall and Winter made me feel a bit gloomy so what did I do? I rewatched Lady in white, of course! I stand by my first statement; it’s a masterpiece and near perfect film. My rating: 9/10
Hel house LLC: The director’s cut: What a disappointment! I thought this extra 20 minutes was just the movie being longer. It was not. It’s 2 or 3 random deleted scenes, casts auditions, locations scouts, behind the scene... All boring and useless stuff to me. As for the movie, I don’t remember it annoying me the first time but this time I was bothered by them never leaving the house. Like: “Holy shit, the clown fucking moved by itself! Bah, let’s sleep here again tonight anyways.” “Holy crap, Paul had a scared puke, Sara is turning crazy and the clown moved again! One more night guys, it can’t hurt.” “Oh my God, clown moved again, piano is playing by itself and candles were not lit 5 seconds ago. It’s probably Paul, we don’t have time for this, show’s in three days, let’s stay.” Urgh, that was so dumb. Also, did anyone ever confronted Alex with his demonic drawings? If they did we don’t know. Otherwise, I’m glad I rewatched it because I had forgotten a bit about the movie so it was a good refresher. I stand by my comment again: this was the creepiest basement ever! Dropping my rating down to 7/10
Fresh (2022 Disney+): I thought that two lead actors did a good job of playing off of each other’s performance and manage to create a complex and interesting relationship between their characters. As the movie took its time to progress and slowly build the story, I didn’t mind, but it was important for me to have a bad shit. Crazy final act and that’s what we got. Call me a happy camper. My rating: 7.5/10
M3gan (2022 Netflix): First time I watched it I was alone. This time I was with my 3 kids. It was funny because at one point my 10 year old said he liked the film but didn’t find it scary at all. Two minutes after came the scene where M3gan gets a glass of water in the face and starts walking like she was possessed by a demon. My son’s face was priceless. As for me, I will keep my rating from last time even if it’s rather high considering I didn’t enjoy as much this time. 7/10
Old dads: Has some fun moments, interesting ideas but will not be very memorable I feel like. My rating: 5.5/10
Pandorum: Very cool looking sci-FI horror with awesome monsters, violence and a pretty strong story to back it all up. My rating: 7/10
