Questions about film distribution.....

Anyone out there with knowledge of how the physical aspect of film (movies) distribution?

For example, are theater films now electronically distributed to theaters? Or is it some other way of providing copies of movies to theaters? Do they provide disks or drives or something else? And if electronically, what type of size would a movie like Gladiator II be?

I have absolutely no clue how this works anymore and am just assuming that film canisters of the actual film are no longer distributed. Is this correct?

I wish I had taken a film studies class in college.

Post physical film they were sent on encrypted hdd with activation keys, they need quite a bit of storage can be 500Gb but maybe they can send via interwebs now with higher speeds.

Movies can still be physically shipped on special hard drives in a DCP format, and sometimes they can be delivered via network connection.

There's also the occasional film reel.
