I had some interesting interactions with them today.

Blocked six days ago 😁

reply

I had a few interactions with him/her. He/she is definitely a leftist but so far our interactions have been good.

reply

The fact that it is responding to posts at lightning speed indicates that it is a bot. Bots should not be allowed on this site.

reply

He's not a bot. He was on the old IMDB board. He is a troll though.

reply

Hey!

Bots have feelings too.

Well, provided they're programmed in.

reply

😁

reply

I only block accounts that show nothing but politics on their primary page. Right, left, anarchist, or extreme government stooge. Unless I see a movie on their profile, they get a block.

After the election, I will unblock them.

Foe now, Fuck the evangelism of political activists.

reply

Yeah.
Politics DO get in the way of a good time.

Many of us have our opinions but just dunk it, nobody is changing anyone’s mind over this American political bullshit. It’s mostly toxic, angry nonsense.

reply

Yep. I know where my vote is. It's no one's business. I'm sure you have your opinions.

Rather than argue politics, I'd rather argue movies and pretend the winner buys the beer.

Now, the real argument that matters:

Bruce Campbell is not nearly as entertaining as people think.

reply

I must disagree with this.
But we can still be cordial👍

reply

The General Discussion people are fun and all, especially the MC crew, but the politics board is pretty much the Jerry Springer Show of Moviechat. You can't threaten to use force against people (saying you wish others would be jailed and arrested is fine from what I gather) but pretty much anything else goes. There are still fufu message boards around where you can talk about movies and random topics as long as you're generally polite, but the politics board here is an anomaly in today's world.

I'm glad that both are here, but especially the politics board.

reply

Or we could block you instead.

Either way it will be an improvement :)

Somebody call the burn ward!

reply

Filmflaneur gave me reasonably thoughtful responses in posts earlier and it was also awhile after I posted, like 30-40 minutes or so. That was our first encounter that I remember, but I have nothing bad to say.

reply

You don't know that.

reply

Only a bot can respond to one's posts in less than 2 seconds. A human can only do it if they were sitting there, actively watching and only typing one word. It was doing whole responses in less time than that.

reply

Wouldnt a bot who's job is to pretend to be human be programmed not to do that?

Also why would anyone program a bot to converse on a virtually unknown movie (albeit also politic) site?

Whats its mission?
Who is it working for?

reply

Please give an example of these " lless than 2 seconds" posts

reply

But they have Troy Tempest as an avatar.

reply

Is that what it is? I thought it was from Thunderbirds.

reply

Stingray - which was a Gerry Anderson creation prior to Thunderbirds, hence the similarities with the marionettes.

reply

I've never heard of "Stingray" until now.

reply

I’m a massive Gerry Anderson fan. He had a huge body of work which spanned my childhood.

reply

And here I was thinking Thunderbirds was an original idea all these years.

reply

It’s all from the amazing imagination of Gerry Anderson.
