Women commentators on men's sports
Got to Stop.
shareI disagree. I would like to see more women commentators on men's sports.
shareNo sports commentators anymore whatsoever.
share“I’m gonna SHOUT about what you can see on your own TV without my old, fat ass interfering and I’m gonna do it using the most banal, cookie-cutter phrases that you can imagine, because I have the verbal skills of a sauerkraut-driven fart. In it to win it! Eyes on the prize! Teen FEE-nom! Oh, that’s GOTTA hurt! The older I get, the better I was!”
I turn the sound off when I watch my sport.
It sickens me to see MEN'S professional sports surrender their masculine space to women in sports they can't play with Men two to three times their size.
shareWhat does that have to do with being a commentator?
shareI know a lot of women who hate hearing women do commentary for male and female sports. They say women don't have a good voice. I don't have a problem with it, but I'm surprised I've seen so many women complain about it.
shareI blame ESPN.
shareI'm one of them.
All of the sideline interviews in the NFL are done by women - some like Pam Oliver do a good job, while others are there because they are attractive and only know which questions to ask because of the feed coming through their earphones.
There is one woman play caller, not sure what her name is, who does some college games - she obviously knows what she is talking about, but her voice and presentation are just annoying.
When the studios and networks are run by men, it's going to be inevitable that there are going to be women being hired for their looks.
shareMaybe, but I think the decision was made to switch to women to appeal to the female audience and increase viewership.
Just like the time the players wore pink ribbons to support breast cancer - why not support testicular cancer, but no - they did that to draw in women
I don't question why they added women, I just think there are dudes who are hiring women just for their looks over their merit.
shareI can't comment on other sports but the ones doing the premier league in England for the past 2 seasons have been pretty damn good.
shareNot problem at all. It is fine for me.
shareAs long as they are qualified and knowledgeable about the sport I’m all for it. The male Broadcast Journalism majors that also has no first hand knowledge are the same.
If they are just there to the first (insert race/sexuality) woman to announce a (insert sport) Stunning and brave! Then yeah, they can fuck off.
