Movies and Shows That You Couldn't Make Today

With all the Wokeness in today's society, it's interesting to think about what movies and shows couldn't get made today. Here's some that come to mind:

1. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry - constant use of the f*g word, making fun of gays, etc.

2. Entourage - too much objectifying of women

reply

Blazing Saddles.

Unfortunately true.

“We have become stupidly politically correct, which is the death of comedy.”
-Mel Brooks

3. One Tree Hill (2003-2012) underage drinking, objectifying women, various stereotypes, the show is out of control lol.

4. Airplane! (1980) too many to mention, this film would give the Woke ones a meltdown. Kid in cockpit, pilot turns to him and says "Do you like Gladiator films?" Young girl tells a young boy that she likes her coffee black, like her men. Lots of crass humour and cheap shots.

5. The Blues Brothers (1980) 2 white guys in a blues band? Appropriation!

reply

One Tree Hill is insanely entertaining and still is today.

reply

It is I came to it late first watching it in 2020 and have been re-watching it again at the moment. It loses itself so often and how many psycho's can one town have?

reply

I love the show but never got through seasons 5&6 as they were just boring to me.

reply

Once Lucas and Peyton leave it really goes down hill I agree and it was pushing it before they left as well.

reply

It did get back on track with seasons 7-9 and there are plenty of good stories out of those years as well.

(3) Pretty sure Euphoria is known for a lot of illegal activity

reply

I hate this topic and any one of these movies could be made today if these actors and creators stood up to the cancel culture mob and not apologize for their work. Ben Stiller refuses to apologize for Tropic Thunder which I commend him for.

reply

Yep, same with Hank Azaria with Apu on The Simpsons, the character is never portrayed in a racist way. So what if it is voiced by a white guy.

reply

That was truly unfortunate. Especially when you realize the character was extremely popular among Indian people.
Hari Kondabolu used it as a means to bolster his failing career and it got out of control.

reply

I worked with a Pakistani guy who would sometimes end his calls with "Thank you come again" and it was hilarious. People are too keen to find offence now.

reply

I also find it ironic that so few Indian people even know who Hari Kondabolu is.

reply

I'd say AIRPLANE.. Listening to Barbara Billingsley speak Jive was awesome for it's time

reply

yeah I mentioned that one above, the film is just one Woke violation after another.

reply

Just imagine that movie were never made and instead, were made in 2023 just they way you see it from a Director not giving a shit and made it just to gage a reaction?? How bad does this go over on a scale of 1-10??

reply

If 10 on that scale was the "worst reaction" Airplane would at least be a 12!

The stuff the pilot says to the boy in the cockpit would be seen as grooming and it was seen that way back in 1980 too but we could also see the humour in it.

The cultural appropriation of the Jive talk you mention.

The old lady who hangs herself.

The line of people waiting to slap around the hysterical woman.

It goes on and on.

reply

LOL!!!! Everything you listed I pictured from that movie and it's just awesome.. I get today's generation will think I'm twist for it but oh well. Sue me

reply

Yep my sense of humour is weird too. Oh and when the main character tries to drink and misses his mouth because he has a drinking problem! Making fun of people for what is now called a "disease". Back then it was just considered a poor choice.

reply

You can make any movie/show you want. This idea that people are more sensitive nowadays is bs invented by the far-right. South Park is still one of the most popular shows of all time, despite being anti-pc af.

What's happening is that we're seeing an increase of diversity in movies. This seems to trigger conservative snowflakes, so they start inventing false narratives against liberals to justify their hatred towards minorities.

reply

The Woke pretending Woke doesn't exist.

reply

Lolita. Even in the 90's people were put off by it.

Love Thy Neighbour (1972-1976) British sitcom about a white couple who have a black couple move in next door. The way the two white men go at each other with the racial slurs would put the Woke ones into therapy. What they would neglect to notice is these two would go to the pub together as well.

Mind Your Language (1977-1985) British TV series about an English as a second language class for immigrants. Every culture cops it in this show as the class is made up of Europeans, Indians, Middle Easterners and Asians.

Kingswood Country (1980-1984) Australian sitcom, similar to Love Thy Neighbour above. A white Aussie father has to adjust to his daughter marrying an Italian. "Money on the fridge Wog!" was a common phrase when the Italian son in law would go to the fridge for a beer.

Man About The House (1973-1976) British sitcom and inspiration for the American "Three's Company" A man has to pretend he is gay so the landlord will allow him to move in with 2 single women.

Three's Company (1976-1984) American remake of the above.

Probably all the raunchy teen comedies of the 80s or the 'gross' comedies of the late 90s & early 2000s
