Random horticulture question 🤔

How come every country roadside and unused/reserved land are full of of blackberry bushes but you never see any raspberry bushes? There's even a random blackberry bush growing out of another bush right outside my flat. They are the same family of plants so it would make sense to see an even mix of them. But I've never seen a wild raspberry bush.

This is in the UK but I imagine most of the northern hemisphere is similar 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have both types growing wild on my property*, probably about 80% Raspberry and 20% blackberry...I enjoy eating the berries, but the birds usually get to them first!

*I live in Vermont, USA...

Lots of these too:

I have lots of those too, but they never produce any fruit...

At least around here, the blackberry bushes are an invasive species and a real problem. They'll take over any unguarded territory and fill it with impassible thickets of blackberry bushes ten feet high, I mean, I once passed a neglected property that was ten feet deep in the damn things and the friend who was showing me around the area said there were four or five abandoned cars hidden under the thicket.

The damn blackberries are everywhere in the local woods, crowding out the native species and trying to take over like some damned alien plant species, and getting rid of them is a nightmare as they put down multiple root systems.
