Have any you Americans watched Quadrophenia

What did you think, like or not?

reply

Yes, I have seen it.

I thought it was pretty good. I wish the music was a bit more forward but I can appreciate how they worked it in more like a score. I liked how they filled in the story from the album. The girl was a real doll, I can see why Jimmy fell so hard for her.

For some reason, I was never into The Who when I was a teen in the 70s and none of my friends were. There were songs on the radio that we liked, but I never bought an album. I bought a compilation CD in the 90s and loved it. I didn't really get into Quadrophenia until 2020. Now I think it is the height of musical achievement of the rock age.

Saw it in a theater in NYC when it was originally released in the fall of 1979. I was 20 years old. IIRC I liked it.

It was a big deal when it came out. It's 7.2 on IMDb. Are you from UK? Are kids just not interested in it today? Actually, now that I asked that, I wouldn't know if American kids are into it. My kids and their friends not big Who fans...

I hate The Who. I've always had a visceral contempt for them. Blandest and most overrated mainstream rock band ever. Sorry.

reply

The movie , not the band.

reply

Oh, at first I thought it was about The Who, Tommy and all that crap. But still, if The Who does the score, I won't see it.

reply

i have not.

I am Canadian and I loved it. 10/10.

Checking in from the US.

Watched it when it first came out. My friends and I liked The Who, and so at first when we heard they were the soundtrack of the movie, we wanted to see it. I liked the movie in its own right, and watch it every time it makes its rounds on TCM.
