First foreign country you visited
Spain 1998.
shareCanada when I was about 5 or so and can't remember anything really.
shareThe US when I was 4, and then spent my summers there until I was 15 and started working summer jobs.
shareItaly in 1986 when I was 2. My father's native country.
shareEngland when I was two years old (obviously no memories), Spain when I was four (a few memories), England again when I was 9, which tuned me into a lifelong anglophile.
shareCanada, then Mexico, Cuba, Germany, Austria, England, France, UAE
shareI grew up in California, and when I was in grade school my family drove to Mexico - Baja California. We camped on the beach in a huge tent, met huge jellyfish in the surf, and sometimes bought warm tamales from a lady who'd walk along the beach with a steaming bucket of premade tamales around dinner time.
Which would have been nice if I'd been with congenial company, but this was my dysfunctional family! Things were tense and miserable, as were all family vacations.
