What's the best vehicle you've owned

Mercedes 190e.

In 1976 I ordered a new 1977 Buick Regal - it was loaded including a T-Top, V6, 5.0 liter engine, and a white interior. I loved that car. Then a few years later, I started driving company cars and we traded the Regal for a van because we got into camping.

Company cars are great, but generally boring and by 2005 I wanted something fun, so I bought a used 95 Miata and fell in love - so much so that I bought a new 2008, which I still own. Zoom-Zoom.

reply

I hate getting in and out of those things. Almost as bad as a corvette.

Signed, million man.

reply

I'm only 5'3", so easy for me - one of the primary reasons I went with a Miata - I can see over the hood. LOL

reply

1991 Honda Accord. The worst was a Triumph TR7.

I just want a selfie and an autograph!

I love you in those movies, Andy: King Of The Wild West!

If you can get me a part as your faithful sidekick in Andy: King Of The Asian Babes Vol. IX it would really boost my career.

Mine was a 1989 GMC Jimmy 4x4 with 350 engine / Muncie 4 speed standard. 7” of lift on 35s, soft top, entire interior floor was bed lined, custom sound and new paint. Too many upgrades to list.

I had this one for 10 years and I planned on keeping it forever but I got hit head on by a Honda accord and rolled it.

Fucking hell, that’s a bad wreck!
Such a kick-ass truck.

Thank goodness you’re still here bud, that must have been a really scary crash.

reply

I rolled over at least 5 times. It was at night and there was a fire truck a few cars behind me. The fireman said he couldn’t see me but he knew I was rolling because my headlights kept shining into the trees. I had my seat belt on and I didn’t get a scratch. 😀

It was quite a ride.

reply

Sheesh!

Out of curiosity what happened to the Honda guy?
Was he drunk, did he get hurt..?

reply

It was 4 kids and they crossed the center line wanting to turn and I hit them at around 60mph. With my tires and lift the front of their Honda was like a ramp. My truck ended up side down and by the time I got out from under it my adrenaline was maxed out, so I know their car was hurt, but nothing like mine. It’s crazy, I honestly felt like I could have shred a phone book, I was so pumped up. The ems made me go to the hospital because they said there could have been internal injuries I was not aware of, so they made me leave before I could really check out their car. Grand Master Flash - White Lines was blaring on the system when the fire department cut the battery cable. 😀

reply

Holy shit, that’s wild!
Now I’ll associate that song with this incident.

I had Cult Of Personalty by Living Colour playing during my first car smack up. Funny the small details you remember LOL!

reply

That’s one I haven’t heard in a while. I remember the video was in heavy rotation on MTV back in the day.

reply

I had an '88, also for about 10 years. This is almost exactly what mine looked like: https://www.restoreamusclecar.com/vehicles/502/1988-gmc-jimmy I bought it with the insurance money I received after having been rear ended and totaled in my previous vehicle by an 18-wheeler on the interstate 😃

reply

Those really are great trucks. You wouldn’t believe how much it cost to buy a restored one today.

reply

Oh yeah! Mine was in great shape, recently detailed when I bought it. It was still in good running condition when I junked it (long story) and I kid you not, within two weeks I saw it in the parking lot of a nearby farm and ranch supply store. It was often mistaken for a Chevy Blazer of the same year and you can see here why https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-chevrolet-blazer-11/

reply

I know what you mean. Everyone knows the Blazers, but when you say GMC Jimmy most people think of the small suvs from the late 90s.

reply

Exactly! I can remember at least a couple of people who still referred to it as a Blazer even after I had corrected them. 😄
