I have a mini Aussie shepherd from a rescue place out in Ossining. She’s a tad bonkers and a bit of a nipper but she’s only 23 pounds so it’s mostly just annoying when she snaps your hand.

She’s hyper alert, I doubt a Ninja could sneak into my house any time of day or night.

They're high strung. Need a lot of room to run, or a big investment in taking them out in the park.

reply

Oh, they are bananas!
My little black girl gets crazy often.

I got that ‘invisible fence collar’ device for her, she’s got plenty of room to roam the yard and run but she knows the limits of her turf.
She’s lucky I keep her on our lawn because this fool thinks she owns the whole hill and she’s the littlest dog up here LOL! If I let her loose every dog in the neighborhood would kick her ass😆

It’s not a ‘shock collar,’ it just emits an unpleasant buzzing that keeps her within limits.
It’s the easily available ‘Petsafe’ brand and gives her a 60 foot radius around the home. It’s pretty inexpensive and it keeps her off the road.

I’ve had a fair number of dogs
and loved them all.
If ‘pound mutt’ is a breed I love them best. Most of mine were pound dogs but two were found on the street filthy and with no tags so away to my house they went.

There are some behaviors to overcome with unwanted or abandoned dogs. They’ll tend to pick a spot in the home they consider their turf and they’ll snap over a stupid item like a slipper or a ball that they decide to ‘guard.’

A discarded animal can show a lot of love and loyalty for the ‘second chance’ but you need to tread lightly, who knows what some bastard put them through before they found you.

While I love watching The Dodo videos, one thing I don't like is that they act like no pit bull ever attacked anyone. Having said that, the pittie videos are pretty adorable

Gorgeous dogs, tremendous energy and strength. That’s a big doggie to deal with, they need room!

reply

Same. I want one. But I hear they're high energy, high-maintenance and ruin your furniture if they're alone in the house. These dogs are bred for the sled!
