Not proud of my cheating, and I'm not excusing it, but it was reactionary cheating to being cheated on. I should have just ended the relationship, but I wanted him to hurt as much as he hurt me. I ended up mostly being the hurt one in both cases, as I don't think it really bothered him as much as it bothered me.
Yes, though the relationship was pretty much on its last legs at that point, so it didn't really bother me that much.
I've never cheated on someone I was with, but I did once fool around with a friend's girlfriend; felt pretty awful about it as soon as I sobered up.
No, but this question reminds me of something. A guy I've known for many years was married, three kids. I found out that although he was married he'd visit a prostitute once/twice a month. His argument was that he wasn't cheating, he was doing it to prevent himself from cheating. In other words, there was no emotional cheating on his wife (which is what he thought would have hurt her the most). They divorced about five years ago - but as far as I know she never found out about the prostitutes.
