I made a pan out video, tell me what you think?

I go close to the object and then walked backwards to show the surrounding area.
Let me know what you think?

I like it. Went on a little too long, but overall it was entertaining.

Things I found interesting:

Your shadow
Cigarette butt
Chicken in a parking lot wtf?
The automotive bulb
Jack Daniels bottle

I think I need to put more of my shadow in the videos.

Answering samoanjoes question about why the video looks like it's from 2008:

I'm filming with a 2 hundred dollar motorola android phone that came out 5 years ago. Been dropped many times, sometimes malfunctions, the zoom doesn't work as good as it used to so instead of zooming in and out with the camera, I have to walk up to and walk away from things.

Also the focus on the camera doesn't work well when I'm moving the camera around so whenever I get a closeup shot of an object, I have to put the camera 1 to 2 inches close to the object, slowly walk backwards, sometimes tripping over and almost falling over rocks or sidewalks behind me cause I'm busy trying to hold the camera still from shaking while still aiming at the object.

And as I'm doing this, the focus on the camera doesn't work that good so the image of the object comes blurry or out of focus, and I'd have to pause walking backwards and hold my position still and I have to wave my hand over the lens so the camera can refocus when I'm one ft away from the object, then I start to walk slowly and carefully backwards again, and it gets out of focus again, and I have to stop walking, keep holding the camera steady, wave my hands over the lens again to get it to refocus, and I'd do this 3 to 6 times every time I film a pan out scene.

So I'm spending a lot of time editing out all the parts where I wave my hand over the lens, that's why when each scene is panning out, the video looks choppy or glitchy, instead of smooth and always in focus. If I edited out every single blurry part along with my hand waving over the lens, the scene would look even more choppy or glitchy.

Also I sped up the scenes by making it 1.5 to 2 times faster because I had to walk backwards really slowly in order to keep the camera from shaking too much while keeping the image in the middle of the shot and also trying not tripping over things, so keeping the video in real time speed would make the video go really slow.

Oh okay. Why keep using this phone though?

reply

That's the only camera I have.

I'll start the GoFundMe.

IN MY VIDEO WHICH IS AN EXPOSE ON YOU...WE DISCOVER THAT YOU PLANTED ALL THAT LITTER...YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH THIS SLIGHT AGAINST NATURE!

reply

Ummmmmm...... are you telling me I didn't randomly find those post it note, white paper towel, and small vehicle light bulb on the ground by chance?

Yah, I admit I do have the exact same brand post it notes, the exact same brand of white paper towel and vehicle bulb in my truck, but that doesn't mean I put it on the ground conveniently right by a popular store or nice background just to get a nice panorama shot of the surroundings when I panned out. All that was just mere coincidence.

And the burger king fries container being right in front of Macy's, the cigarette right in front of Home Depot, the white plastic fork(which I also have a lot of in my truck) was put right in the center of a bed of yellow flowers, the crush orange soda can right in front of that chicken with Target store just so happened to be right behind that, and the final scene where there's a wrapper crumpled up right in front of baskin and robbins. And all that was set up by me?

I have no idea what you're talking about, it was all a mere coincidence those litter objects were where they were.

reply

I think there are too many damned litterbugs running around.
