Name a show (or shows) that peaked with their first season

They could've even had good later seasons but never reached the heights of the first season.

I'm finally watching Westworld post season 1. While the seasons are not bad, they're just not that engaging. That first season is just one of the best things ever put on TV (in my opinion)

Another one is Heroes. Man, that first season was a phenomenon. "Save the cheerleader, save the world"

They never recovered after the writers' strike of 2007/08.

Yes of course Firefly. I thought they were right to cancel it after one season. The show wasn't going anywhere in terms of its story in spite of having a good cast and looking good overall.

Did it need to go anywhere though? I would have been happy with a few more seasons of episodic episodes - and then the film to wrap it up.

Maybe so but even in the first season of Firefly only a handful of episodes were really good and the overall story ( as was revealed by the film Serentiy ) was paper thin. I don't mind sitting through some mediocre or bad episodes so long as there are enough really good episodes to keep you going like the X-Files was in the first five seasons.

I enjoyed it up until season 5-6ish. It just dragged on & on.

It's one of those shows that kept going on & on (past its end date) just cause people were watching it.

It lost steam like halfway through.

I still enjoyed 2 and 3, but you've got a point. The alien mythology especially got out of hand after season 1.

Underrated show. Watched it all the way through.

Later seasons legit felt like a soap opera.

I loved it, every episode was a huge event. The following seasons stood no chance with audience expectations.

Season 3 was pretty solid. But the show never reached the heights of that first season.

Yeah, it's gonna be called True Detective: Night Country. Coming out sometime this year. Christopher Eccleston is also gonna be in it.
