Years ago he kept coming after me for no reason so I ignored him. But one day I finally decided to respond to him thinking that he'd stop, but he got offended. Now he keeps telling me that I stir the pot and that's how the arguments start.

As far as jriley555 goes in that exchange he was having a repeated dig at me in a passive aggressive way which I don't like so I let him have it back more directly and succinctly.

You complain about my "venomous name calling" when you are the biggest head-kicker on Moviechat. So I kicked your head back, big deal. If you can't take it then don't dish it out.

I actually had a poster start stalking me to various other threads to repeatedly accuse me of "ad hominem" attacks...after THEIR very first post to ME on the board was to accuse me of "hate". -eyeroll-

That they repeatedly refused to acknowledge their hypocrisy/projection/etc (while the entire time referring to themselves as "logical") was all the evidence I needed to understand that any further interaction would simply be a waste of my time, and reminded me of a meme I'd seen used to describe individuals who "debate" in bad faith:

"If a ________ says they want you to back up something you've said with facts, they're lying. They want you to waste your time explaining a position they will neither consider nor accept. If they liked facts, they wouldn't be _______."

Now that this has been clarified by an official source, I have some two cents:

-The verbal exchanges so far that have been demonstrated in this topic between Quasimodo and db20db can more accurately be described as mutual bickering. Yes, they have a habit of getting each other's goats. That doesn't necessarily qualify as harassment from either end.

-The topic of trolling has been brought up before and presents the question: what constitutes to "trolling" anymore? That's a whole separate issue about particular users' posting patterns alternating between explicitly contentious topics and soft-pedaling innocuous ones, both delivered in an increasingly spastic manner that suggests accelerated cravings of gratification and attention.

Pretty sure I put this person on ignore soon after running into he/she. The name is familiar.
Now that I think about it, this person out-of-nowhere said they had had it with my snarkiness and was very unexpectedly mean about it, so I ironically replied "Well that was pleasant," and this person comes unglued. I told myself to steer clear of this odd poster. Next thing I know I'm getting a reply from this person on some other thread, and I thought if you don't like me, don't follow me.
