Your movie double features

I don't know if anyone else has movies that they like to watch as a double feature or not, but I always seem to watch The Towering Inferno (1974), and The Poseidon Adventure (1972) back to back. I got to wondering if there were any others that I do that with and I will tend to watch Empire Records (1995) and Clueless (1995) back to back as well.

Edit to add, that I'm not really counting sequels, or movies that share a cinematic universe. Like I often will do the entire LOTR trilogy in a day or a weekend.

Total Recall (1990) and Aliens(1986)

I watch these back to back every year around Christmas time.

reply

Nice. Any reason you watch them around Christmas?

reply

It's purely nostalgia.

In the early 90s I started doing this when I'd arrive home from college on Christmas break.

I'd rent a bunch of movies, make a big bowl of popcorn and have hot chocolate.

I'd watch movies all day. Aliens and Total Recall were my favorites at the time and I still hold these movies in high regard.

I remember days like that in the 90s. My friend and I became friends with the guy at the video store by my house, and he would always recommend movies for us.

reply

Die Hard 1-3 I used to watch all the time

reply

"Waking Life" and "Inception" make a dreamy double feature!

reply

I just thought of another one I used to do.
The Last Starfighter, and Space Camp.

reply

Breaking Away (1979) and The Bad News Bears (1976)

reply

Oh wow. I totally forgot about Breaking Away. I really liked that movie.

I have a friend who has recently been telling me to watch Empire Records (1995). If you like it that much, I might just give it a viewing.

reply

I do enjoy it. It's very mid 90s.

reply

French Connection II & The Day of the Jackal ('73).
The tone, setting and era of both films is similar, one always puts me in the mood for the other.

Nice ones

SIDE NOTE...EMPIRE RECORDS USED TO BE ONE OF MY HAPPY PLACE MOVIES...HOWEVER...I SHOWED IT TO MY DAUGHTER A MONTH OR TWO AGO...THE FUCKING MOVIE MADE ME REALLY SAD...I WAS ALL TEARY THE WHOLE TIME...I REALLY DO NOT ENJOY GETTING OLDER.😐

reply

Did it make you Sugar High? 😉

I have watched a few movies from my younger years where the nostalgia knocked me for a loop. My partner is very unemotional, and there I am, sitting beside him, silently crying at a comedy.

RIGHT?...I WATCH EVERYTHING WITH MY DAUGHTER WHO SEEMS TO BE DEAD INSIDE...SHE DOESN'T LAUGH OR CRY...SHE ENJOYS COMEDIES AND DRAMAS...BUT SHOWS NO SIGNS OF SUCH...I SPEND A LOT OF TIME DESPERATELY ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN.
